Herbal Remedies

There has been a lot of information about herbal remedies lately on television and in magazines.  Many people are turning away from traditional remedies and trying herbal remedies.  What are some of the best herbal remedies available?  Here are a few:

Burns

If you have a nasty burn, consider using aloe vera on it.  You can keep an aloe vera plant in your kitchen then when you suffer a minor burn from cooking, jst break off a leaf, slit it open, and apply the aloe vera gel directly to your burn.

Menopause

The Algonquin Indians have used black cohosh for years to treat menopausal symptoms in women.  A German study has shown that black cohosh worked very well for patients that could not take estrogen supplements.

Arthritis

Millions suffer from arthritis and boswellia may be the answer to their prayers.  Boswellia, also known as frankincense is one of the herbal remedies used in Egypt to treat patients with osteoarthritis.  It was shown to reduce swelling caused by arthritis.

Digestive Problems

Chamomile tea has been used through Europe to treat digestive problems.  It helps relax the muscle spasms of the stomach.  But, if you are sensitive to ragweed, you may be allergic to chamomile.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections are both painful and annoying.  If you suffer from frequent urinary tract infections, you may want to consider cranberry.  It is available in the form of pills, juice, or even dried cranberries.

Colds and Flu

At some point, everyone suffers from a cold or the flu.  Echinacea can help boost your immune system to both reduce symptoms of a cold or flu as well as accelerate your recovery.  Next time you feel a cold coming on, take some Echinacea to help ward it off.

High Cholesterol

Many doctors will recommend prescription drugs if you suffer from high cholesterol.  As a natural alternative, ask him or her about taking evening primrose oil.  Some studies have shown that it can lower high cholesterol in as little as three months.
