Drug testing most commonly involves hair drug tests and urine drug tests. But other drug testing can also be done by using hair, sweat or saliva. Blood tests are not normally done for detection of substance abuse because drugs in the blood can be detected only for a few hours. Different states have their laws regarding drug testing in accordance with federal regulations. Workplaces and schools often conduct random drug testing. The best way to stay away from trouble is by steering clear of all drugs. But this isn’t what happens always.

The stipulated process or procedure should be explained to you and if you have not understood any part of it make it a point to clear your doubts before you start on the drug testing. You could even have a practice run at home with a test kit before you go for the actual drug testing. Home drug testing kits are available in the pharmacy or online at very inexpensive prices. These may not be as accurate as those administered by a qualified professional in a well-equipped laboratory. But this may prove somewhat comforting to you.

At the drug testing center do not let anything or anyone influence you in any manner. This is particularly true when doing the paperwork at the drug testing center before the actual testing. Do something relaxing before you go for the test for some people tend to be nervous before drug testing particularly if it is for the first time. It is always a good idea to take the test in the afternoon rather than in the morning. In the event you fail the test for the first time, most companies these days let you go through the drug testing once again but it may be that you will need to pay for it on your own.
